At Equal Space, our work is rooted in equity and social justice. Our mission is to build pathways to legacy wealth through technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship while supporting the creative and innovation economies side by side.
We focus on expanding access and opportunity for multicultural founders by creating a culturally affirming campus and supporting fair economic outcomes, including closing wage gaps for fem identifying individuals. Our campuses are designed to support belonging, growth, and long term stability.
Programming is a core part of our impact. We produce some of Newark’s largest ecosystem experiences, including Small Business Week and Newark Tech Week, while ensuring our events remain accessible to the community. Our work is ongoing, and we remain committed to growing our impact with intention and accountability.
Exciting news! The highly anticipated Destination Newark Spring Issue is now available, curated by founder and publisher Sakina Cole and her team. This issue sets a new standard for showcasing the vibrant happenings in Newark. Featured on the cover is none other than real estate developer and foodpreneur Adenah Bayou, whose story and impactful contributions to Newark are a must-read.
We are immensely proud of the work of Yendor, Malcolm Rolling, and Hans as they represent the culture through their eyes and creativity. Their contributions to the Newark Arts community continue to inspire and uplift, showcasing the vibrant and diverse artistic expressions within our city. Yendor’s innovative approach to storytelling, Malcolm Rolling’s powerful visual narratives, and Hans’ groundbreaking explorations in art all contribute to shaping the cultural landscape of Newark. Their dedication to their craft and their commitment to artistic excellence serve as a beacon for aspiring artists and creators, driving forward a legacy of creativity and cultural richness in our community.
We are immensely proud of our members the LGBTQIA+ Community center as they produced the second LGBTQIA+ Film Festival, a pioneering event in Newark and across New Jersey, dedicated to highlighting the work of LGBTQIA+ BIPOC filmmakers, directors, and actors, particularly those from Newark and the surrounding regions. This festival aligns seamlessly with our center’s mission to foster a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQ community, not only in Newark but also extending its reach beyond our city’s borders.
